Cross Dock Lead Position Description

Title: Cross Dock Lead                                                                                          Days Off: Saturday & Sunday

Reports to: Cross Dock Supervisor


Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Cross Dock Lead is to manage the availability of product to all McLendon Stores by maintaining an accurate, reliable, effective, and efficient Cross Dock Department. The Cross Dock Lead is responsible for supervising all Cross Dock Department activities and handling the administrative elements of the Cross Dock process. This position works under minimal supervision and must work closely with the stores' R & I Leads on a daily basis.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Personnel – Works with Cross Dock Supervisor to prepare Cross Dock work schedules and adjust as needed to meet the needs of the department. Reviews upcoming receiving volume and ensures that the Cross Dock Department is scheduled adequately to handle workload.
  2. Communication – Communicates on a regular basis with the Cross Dock Supervisor concerning the overall productivity of the department and identifies concerns and issues for discussion and resolution. Communicates with Cross Dock employees and Sales Leads regarding inventory and/or receiving issues that are pertinent to their jobs. Acts as primary contact person for Store and Corporate Staff regarding receiving and/or inventory issues. Communicates with vendors, corporate, and other stores via phone, email, fax, or in person as required. Provides courteous, efficient and attentive customer service when working with both inside and outside contacts.
  3. Cross Dock Administration – Handles all administrative tasks that pertain to the receipt and/or shipment of goods, including, but not limited to all goods entering or leaving the store through Cross Dock. Reviews purchase orders and transfers that have been received by Cross Dock employees, identifies and accounts for discrepancies on incoming and/or outgoing shipments, finalizes purchase orders and transfers, logs discrepancies and/or issues, prioritizes receipts, and other applicable administrative tasks as needed.
  4. Shrinkage & Counts –Assists the stores' R & I Leads with any inventory discrepancies and variances as needed.
  5. Physical Inventory – Assists in detailed inventory management within the Cross Dock. Offers assistance with physical inventory counts and holds strict inventory management on a daily basis.
  6. Store-to-store transfers – Coordinates all store to store transfers.
  7. Training – Coaching and training with existing Cross Dock team members. Trains the rest of the store on Cross Dock procedures and protocol. Communicates training concerns with Cross Dock Supervisor when necessary.
  8. Loss Prevention – Reduces the potential for fraud and injury by maintaining a clean, organized and controlled work environment, following policies and procedures consistently, and promptly reporting issues to the Cross Dock Supervisor.

Other Duties:

  • Troubleshoots minor computer/software problems.
  • Ensures receiving area and office space is maintained in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Use lift equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Schedules, coordinates and follows through with the home delivery process.
  • Has constant communication with buyers as to store splits and transfers.
  • Coordinates all store mail to include inter office mail, and ensures timely delivery
  • Creates detailed truck maintenance schedule, log and DOT compliance for the Cross Dock truck fleet
  • Serve as a back up to the sores' R & I leads as needed
  • Maintains daily safety checklist for all trucks, forklifts and electrical ladders.


Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years working in a warehouse, with at least one year at McLendon Hardware preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be dependable, detail oriented, process oriented, and driven for success.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift merchandise up to 35lbs.
  • Must have moderate computer knowledge including general typing and ten key skills. This includes competency with Activant Eagle, and Microsoft Office-like products.
  • Must have the ability to read and write English and have proficient math skills.
  • Due to the nature and responsibilities of this position, dependable regular attendance is required.
